Keisham Meghachandra, the Manipur president of Congress, stated, “On January 2, we proposed to the state government to permit the use of Hapta Kangjeibung public ground in Imphal for the inauguration of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. We had previously announced that the Yatra would commence from Imphal and conclude in Mumbai.”
Regarding the permission issue, Keisham Meghachandra explained, “Despite meeting Chief Minister N Biren Singh on January 10, we were initially denied permission. However, later that night, an order was issued granting limited access to Hapta Kangjeibung ground.”
