Karan Johar appeared to respond to a report suggesting a significant casting change in Dulhania 3, where Janhvi Kapoor replaces Alia Bhatt.
Following the triumph of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), Varun Dhawan and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions are said to collaborate on a new installment. Amidst reports of Janhvi Kapoor replacing Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar has seemingly responded, urging the media not to speculate on the film.
In an Instagram Stories post on Friday, Karan Johar expressed, “Each morning, I am greeted with news that lacks official confirmation from Dharma Productions. Kindly refrain from speculating about franchise continuity or initiation! We’ll share details when plans are finalized. While we appreciate the enthusiasm for our upcoming films, accuracy is preferred over speculation. Respectfully, Karan Johar.”
Karan’s response appears to be prompted by a PeepingMoon.com report stating that Alia won’t be part of Dulhania 3. Instead, Janhvi Kapoor is cast as the new Dulhania opposite Varun Dhawan. The report also mentions Shashank Khaitan directing, with an entirely different plot and characters unrelated to the previous films. According to the portal, pre-production is underway, and Varun is expected to commence filming after completing Atlee’s Theri remake.
The report surfaced on Thursday, shortly after Karan hinted at a significant project during a recent episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8, playfully teasing Janhvi about a venture they couldn’t disclose at the time.
