Nita Ambani adorns herself in a beautifully handwoven Banarasi saree.

Nita Ambani chose to wear an elegant lavender Banarasi brocade saree paired with a matching blouse during her address at the 46th Annual General Meeting of Reliance Foundation.

Nita Ambani, renowned for her philanthropic endeavors and advocacy for local artisans, delivered a speech at the Annual General Meeting of Reliance Industries Limited. On formal occasions, she frequently embraces traditional sarees. During the recent RIL event, she gracefully wore a handwoven brocade saree.

Here are two key points to know:

  1. 1. Nita Ambani’s lavender saree pays tribute to the centuries-old craftsmanship of skilled artisans.
  2. 2. The Banarasi weave is among the various regional art forms championed by Reliance Foundation’s Swadesh initiative.

Nita Ambani donned a lavender Banarasi brocade saree with a coordinated blouse during the 46th Annual General Meeting. The splendid six-yard masterpiece was crafted by Shri Iqbal Ahmad, featuring intricate patterns such as koniya paisley, barfi, booti, and traditional zari work.

Her saree paid homage to the centuries-old craftsmanship of Varanasi and celebrated the diverse forms of Indian artistic expression. What made her attire even more fascinating is that it was crafted by Swadesh, a store format exclusively for artisans operated by Reliance Retail, a division of Reliance Industries.

To complement her outfit, Nita Ambani adorned herself with diamond bangles, a lengthy pearl necklace, and a pair of sparkling diamond earrings. The chairperson of Reliance Foundation exuded an ethereal charm with her kohl-rimmed eyes, light pink lipstick, a traditional bindi, and fragrant gajras in her hair.

Nita Ambani champions Indian art and craft in the United States.

Nita Ambani has a history of choosing handwoven Banarasi textiles for significant events. In June, she graced the US State Dinner at the White House hosted by PM Modi, donning an exquisite ivory-gold Banarasi brocade saree. On another occasion, she elegantly wore an ethnic Patola silk saree from Patan, Gujarat.

Both sarees were sourced from the Reliance Foundation’s Swadesh exhibit at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre.
