Nita Ambani reacts to Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians

Hardik Pandya is poised to make a return to his initial franchise, Mumbai Indians, in anticipation of IPL 2024.

On Monday, the Indian Premier League (IPL) officially confirmed the transfer of Gujarat Titans’ captain, Hardik Pandya, back to his original franchise, Mumbai Indians. This trade between the two teams marks a significant development. Hardik, the accomplished all-rounder, played a pivotal role in Gujarat Titans’ journey, leading them to a triumphant debut season in 2022, clinching the coveted trophy. In their second season, they secured the runners-up position after a thrilling final earlier this year, marked by a last-ball defeat.

In another trade, Mumbai Indians all-rounder Cameron Green has been transferred to Royal Challengers Bangalore. Despite being acquired for a substantial ₹17,50,00,000 at the December auction last year, Green participated in 16 matches for MI. The Australian showcased a commendable performance in the IPL, opening with an unbeaten century and contributing two half-centuries, along with taking six wickets. These transactions adhere to the prevailing player fee regulations.

In response to the development, Vikram Solanki, Director of Cricket for Gujarat Titans, remarked, “As the inaugural captain of Gujarat Titans, Hardik Pandya played a pivotal role in the franchise’s success with two remarkable seasons, securing a TATA IPL championship and a finals appearance. He has communicated his wish to rejoin his initial team, Mumbai Indians. We respect his decision and extend our best wishes for his future endeavors.”

Commenting on Hardik’s comeback, Mumbai Indians’ co-owner, Akash Ambani, expressed, “Welcoming Hardik back to Mumbai Indians brings me great joy. It’s a delightful homecoming. He adds significant balance to any team he joins. Hardik’s initial tenure with the MI family was highly successful, and we look forward to even greater achievements in his second stint.”

Hardik’s return signifies a reunion with the Mumbai Indians, rejoining forces with Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, and the rest of the team. His journey began with MI, and since his debut in 2016, he has become a notable figure for both the franchise and the Indian national team.

The linchpin all-rounder of India played a pivotal role in Mumbai Indians’ four IPL triumphs from 2015 to 2021.

Nita M. Ambani expressed her special reaction to Hardik Pandya’s return to Mumbai Indians, stating, “We are thrilled to welcome Hardik back home! It’s a heartwarming reunion with our Mumbai Indians family! From being a young talent scouted by Mumbai Indians to becoming a star for Team India, Hardik has traversed an impressive journey, and we eagerly anticipate what the future holds for him and Mumbai Indians!” as quoted in a press release.
